Five candidates for McAllen mayor will square off in a live-streamed debate Wednesday, March 3rd at 11:45 am. The McAllen Rotary Clubs will be hosting the forum live on Zoom and simultaneously on streaming on Facebook and Youtube.
McAllen, Tx. — Five candidates for McAllen mayor will square off in a live-streamed debate Wednesday, March 3rd at 11:45 am. The McAllen Rotary Clubs will be hosting the 90-minute forum live on Zoom and simultaneously on streaming on Facebook and Youtube.
 
The McAllen election will take place on May 1st which is less than four months away, and community members want to know about the next mayor's agenda. Currently, the candidates that have been scheduled to attend include (in alphabetical order) Othal Brand Junior, Michael Fallek, Dr. Shahid RashidVeronica Vela Whitacre, and Javier Villalobos. The current mayor of McAllen, Jim Darling, will not be running for re-election.

Everyone is invited to watch the debates live on Youtube and on Facebook.  They will be given the opportunity to submit questions to the moderators which will be added at the end of the debate for the candidates to respond.
